Why Ghost & What’s to Come
After a decade of using, and sometimes struggling, with WordPress, I am leaving it behind to start fresh on Ghost. A change in my site provider is long overdue, along with a fresh start for this domain.
After a decade of using, and sometimes struggling, with WordPress, I am leaving it behind to start fresh on Ghost. A change in my site provider is long overdue, along with a fresh start for this domain. I never enjoyed using WordPress. I am not even sure anymore how I started using it. But, the old site had become so bloated, full of dead links, and questionable traffic, that it finally felt like the time to let it go.
The old blog lived many lives. For awhile, it was a personal blog. It became focused on minimalism in 2016 and 2017. In 2019, it morphed into more of a general gaming blog. As my kid grew older, it became difficult to post consistently. The ideas dried up as I lost the ability to write. The few posts I had that brought traffic were not enough to justify the price I was paying to host the blog.
Which brings me to today.
I am still planning a few things, exploring the backend, and bouncing some ideas around for how I want to use this platform, but I like what I see. I am not committing to anything right away when it comes to publishing frequency, but I anticipate having the details worked out soon.
Here’s to what comes next.
